Ziprasidone

It is a new antipsychotic.

Indications

Schizophrenia.

Dosage

Adults : 80-160mg/day. Children : not recommended.

Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Patients predisposed to significant electrolyte disturbances esp hypokalaemia should have baseline serum K & Mg should be corrected before treatment.

Side Effects

Somnolence and nausea, constipation, dyspepsia, headache, akathisia, dizziness, diarrhoea, GI disturbances, agitation, hypertonia, less increased SGPT, musculosekeletal complaints.

Drug Interactions

Ketoconazole, carbamazepine.
