Cefpodoxime with Ofloxacin

Cefpodoxime with Ofloxacin

Cefpodoxime and Ofloxacin are a combination of antibiotics used to treat various bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin, while Ofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class.

Indications

This combination is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Dosage

The dosage may vary depending on the specific infection and patient factors. It is crucial to follow the prescribed dosage and duration as directed by a healthcare professional.

Contra-Indications

This combination is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, or any other component of the formulation. Additionally, caution is advised in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use.

Special Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics. Use with caution in patients with a history of renal impairment. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight during treatment, as fluoroquinolones may increase sensitivity to UV light.

Drug Interactions

-Concurrent use with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may increase the risk of central nervous system stimulation and seizures. -Concomitant use with antacids, sucralfate, or metal cations may reduce the absorption of Ofloxacin.
